Showcomotion Young People’s Film Festival

Showcomotion Young People’s Film Festival returns to the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield Friday 25th May to Sunday 3rd June with another impressive mix of film screenings and activities for schools and families. The Festival has a strong ethos of inspiring young film-making talent by introducing children to a range of films they wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to see. Comprising a mixture of films from around the world in competition, recent releases, previews, shorts, retrospectives, Q&As, workshops and much more, this year promises to be the best year yet.

A few highlights from a packed program:

Petit Nicholas

When Nicholas, a mischievous French schoolboy, overhears a conversation between his parents about a new arrival, he mistakenly believes they want to replace him with a new baby. Convinced o his imminent abandonment, he enlists the help of his schoolmates in order to survive.

Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey

Elmo has been winning the hearts of children from across the world for many years. As one of the main stars of Sesame Street, Elmo has been adored by different generations of children and adults. In Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey we meet Kevin Clash, the man behind the puppet, and discover what made him become the heart and soul behind the loveable character.

On the Sly

In a time and place not so far away, lives a little girl who thinks she is invisible to her parents. In order to test out her theory, she decides to disappear into the woods and create a magical world for herself.

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax

In order to win the heart of the girl of his dreams, a 12 year old boy must discover the story of The Lorax; the grumpy yet charming creature who crusades to protect the world.
