[wide][/wide]The End of the Road Festival has gained a reputation as being friendly, intimate and brimming with top-quality music and entertainment since its inception in 2006. This year, the people behind EOTR have decided to launch a sister festival, No Direction Home. Taking place just down the road on the edge of the Sherwood Forest at Welbeck Abbey, No Direction Home promises to be a welcome addition to the festival circuit and, if the first announcements are anything to go by, a jolly nice weekend.
The headliners for the festival are: Dirty Three & The Low Anthem on the Friday; Andrew Bird on the Saturday; and Sheffield’s own Richard Hawley on the Sunday. Indeed, there is a strong Sheffield presence throughout the bill so far with Slow Club, The Crookes and Wet Nuns all playing.
Other musical highlights include:
The Unthanks With The Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Band
Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves Of Destiny
Father John Misty
Lanterns on the Lake
The Last Picture Show Cinema will be showing a wide array of vintage films spanning cinematic history: from Méliès to Keaton; Lynch to Herzog. There will also be comedy from the likes of Josie Long and Robin Ince and a wide array of other entertainment.
