Awarded an Honarary Academy Award for his body of work, Corman has acted as a mentor for many directors such as Francis Ford Copola, Martin Soorcese, Ron Howard and James Cameron. He has also helped launch the careers of actors of the like of Jack Nicholson, Robert de Niro, Peter Fonda & Dennis Hopper. Since the 70s, he’s mainly been known for production roles in a long line of B-Movies, but he’s highly regarded for his early directorial work on a raft of Edgar Allen Poe adaptations. He’s gained a reputation throughout his career for making profitable films.
Showing as part of the Showroom’s Cult Tuesday screenings, Corman’s World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel is a documentary spanning his entire career and huge body of work. Jam-packed with rare interviews from taciturn film-stars and directors such as Jack Nicholson and Peter Bogdanovich, Corman’s World promises to be a blast; full of fake blood and plastic hybrid monsters.
