Celluloid Screams 2013

[wide]2941 526413610760297 1183489637 n | Celluloid Screams 2013[/wide] Now in its fifth year, Celluloid Screams has established itself as a firm favourite amongst horror fans. Taking place of the last weekend in October at the Showroom, the film festival features a diverse mix of features and shorts covering the full spectrum of the horror genre. Along with the eclectic mix of modern, foreign and classic films, expect the usual friendly atmosphere and customary late night drunkenness.

This year, for the first time, our stamina is being put to the test with a Night of the (Un)Dead all-nighter. Assail your senses from midnight onwards with a Frankenhooker, Return of the Living Dead, The Beyond and one of the most fun horror films every made, Demons, at an eye-popping 6am.

There are UK premières this year of Chimeres, Discopath, Motivational Growth and Delivery. The guest of honour this year is Frank Henenlotter, and along with Frankenhooker there will be a special double-bill of his films Basket Case and Basket Case 2. You can buy a full festival pass, a ticket for the all-nighter or individual tickets. If you’re planning the latter and not sure what to see, we recommend:

Motivational Growth – The Opening Gala film is an award-winning hallucinatory comedy horror about a man and a talking fungus. Breaking the mold…

Big Bad Wolves – Israeli revenge film.

Delivery – The story of a young couple who decide to take part in a reality TV show by documenting their pregnancy, but unexplained events start to disrupt proceedings.

The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears – Potent French psychological drama from the duo behind Amer. Expect it to be gory, garish and to leave you mentally scarred.
