Longing for warm summer nights instead of cold wintery darkness or may be something to take the February chill out of your bones? I’d suggest checking out the latest single from Sheffield tinkerer Adrian Carter, featuring Jane Silence, One Summer Evening.
With three different versions of the track available it’s hard to pick out a favourite, each has their own little quirks, beats and bounces. The vocal edit, formulating the breathlessness of Silence’s lyrics, fused between the backdrops of the bass proves divine. It’s not hardcore, it’s soothing with a rhythmical trance like approach.
The Tommy Vincent mix speeds the whole anthem up slightly, building as it goes into a kaleidoscope of sound. Adrian Carter’s Sheffield Dub proves different head bobbing beats and distorted wonks coming in behind with whips and chains. Silence’s vocals whirl through all the tracks, it soothes and invites you in and keeps you enticed.
Notably as Silence chants it’s the same drama over and over… you could think that’s it with 3 mixes of the same track but this is dance music and this is something very special.
