BOOM! We’re back in the room and October is looking like a busy month indeed. With what looks like every venue packing itself full of music it’ll be a non-stop party for 31 days.
Speaking of parties, it’s The Harley’s tenth birthday this month, so we wish them a good one and hope to see (at least) ten more years of the madness. The Harley have packed some treats to help us celebrate a decade of what was once known as ‘the home of the lazy posers’, including Conan, Throne and Goat Leaf (2nd Oct), King Krule (3rd), local high fliers High Hazels (4th), the beautiful Pins with support from Post War Glamour Girls and Blessa (5th), Esben and The Witch (10th), Lanterns on the Lake (14th), Kid Conventional (24th), Jungle and Peaks (30th) and many more so help them to celebrate and bob along and may be buy them a drink.
Around the festivities, there’s plenty of venues to discover may be rejoice in them too everyday’s a celebration isn’t it? So while we put our party hats down, then lets crack on with business.
The Crookes and The Oreoh!s play Sheffield University and Kid Karate, Kartica and SSS play Plug on the 3rd, whilst further into town Saturday the 5th sees From the Kites of San Quentin, Squires of Gothos and Abe at Penrose Works. Bringing about a chilled Sunday evening, there’s Pete Green, Nat Johnson and Robberie at The Rutland Arms (who also celebrate their birthday this month!).
The week commencing 7th October starts with locals Feral Brood, Bluehearts and the Desert Motel Club at The Bowery, Temples at Queens Social Club (8th), the 10th sees Stubborn Hearts, Josef k & Winter Sun and Peaks at Bungalows and Bears and Scholars hit Corp. The Leadmill plays host to Splassh, Charlie Boyer & the Voyeurs and The Wythches (11th) and on the 12th there’s Chvrches and Thumpers . The 12th also sees Carl Woodford and many more at Penelope’s and Beta Blocker and The Body Clock at The Washington.
The week of the 14th has more gigs you could shake a dirty at, concentrating on the weekend the 18th has Brown Brogues, Rumpus and Bad Grammar at The Great Gatsby, Blanks Maps and Aztec Song at The Washington, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Polkadodge at the Plug. On the 19th there’s Fun Adults, Nadine Carina, Abe and Secret Diaries at The Bowery and XXX Girls, Weatherbird, Perfectparachutepictures and more on at the Red House. A special mention for the Wet Nuns as it’s their last every gig, they’ll be messing up Queens Social with support from Royal Blood and Flaming Skulls.
Back at the Red House there’s The Flatmates, Velodrome 2000 and The Sweet Nothings on the 20th, whilst the 22nd see Everything Everything at the Academy and Honeyblood at The Great Gatsby. Girls Names play Bungalows and Bears on the 24th and further up the road at The Bowery are Coasts, Tropic of Youth and Mark Nichols. The Leadmill sees Local Natives, Cloud Control and Breton (25th) and Deap Vally (29th) up at the Plug AlunaGeorge also play on the 29th. Finishing off October the 31st sees Beaty Heart and Mysteron at Bungalows and Bears and Spector at Queens Social.
