Jolie en Rose

[wide]lajolieban | Jolie en Rose[/wide]October is the month where things turn pink, there is a reason for this it’s Breast Cancer awareness month. In memory of her mother who sadly died nine years from the disease ago this month, Tasha Boyle plans on turning Sheffield’s Redhouse into a musical Pinkhouse with the aim of raising money for Cavendish Care, a place who provide care and assistance for breast cancer patients in the city.

After raising £750 last year the team behind Jolie en Rose plan on topping this with an all-day female musical extravaganza. Featuring delights from a heap of singer/songwriters including Nat Mortimer, Anna Haigh, Laura Hegarty, Sosa-xa!, Les Femmes Fatales and Sarah Mac, there’s mix ranging from jazz fuelled piano tones to riot gurrls on guitar. There will be other invents on the day including a raffle and the music provides a soundtrack to everything a girl could desire in raising money for a good cause.

It still seems astounding that nearly 50,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK. That’s one person every 10 minutes and in women under 35 breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer (statistics from Breast Cancer Care).

Jolie en Rose takes place from 2:30pm onwards on October 22nd at the Redhouse, Solly Street, Sheffield, it’s free entry but donations are encouraged, so dig deep for a good cause and a great pink day.
