Alvarez Kings and friends: Plug, Sheffield

Alvarez Kings, The Tivoli, Ian Huddleston and the Expectations, Dave Woodcock and the Dead Comedians
13th May, 2011: Plug, Sheffield

A quartet of Rotherham’s finest grace the Plug stage for what is sure to be a memorable Soundclash.

Headliners Alvarez Kings are finally getting the recognition their melodic indie rock deserves with a European tour that’s takes the Kings to Germany, Austria and Italy to launch their new 5 track ep Patience Is Strength before popping back to appear at Plug.

Main support are The Tivoli, lead by Lee McMahons’ impressively distinctive vocals and standout lead guitar from Damien Baughan, their live set is legendary and their art-rock buzzes with samples evidenced by fine new single The Messenger.

If that’s not enough, former Viva High Rollers front man, the excellent singer songwriter Ian Huddleston brings his live band The Expectations to deliver some intelligent and emotive songs courtesy of the big mans pen.

And still more, another who regularly headline their own gigs Dave Woodcock and the Dead Comedians. After their wonderful album Omaha High Low last year they took a short break but relaunch what promises to be another show stopping set with Dave’s rousing and animated performance and sidekick Chris Saunders a sensation on lead guitar.

And all for £5, one definitely not to be missed.
