The Little Million: Boardwalk Sheffield
little-million-bannerNME or Kerrang…NME or Kerrang…this is what was going through my mind as I set about to watch The Little Million’s single launch. Having met two members of the band a few weeks before the gig, I was given the task of working out what genre of music they actually fit into…

Following two loud and energetic support acts, The Little Million took to the stage. The Sheffield four piece gave a vigorous start, which didn’t seem to stop throughout their set. Think Green Day, a hint of Blink 182 and a dose Weezer, you could almost call them college rock but these guys know how to keep it real and don’t pussy foot around.

The set list included old as well as new songs, highlights for me included Walk Away, Bring out the Blues and State of Emergency. All delivered at a pumping rate, which for a Monday night was a good way to end the first day of the week.

Also, keen to keep their upstanding with technology live streaming of the gig being was uploaded to Ustream, although despite an intricate set up at lot of the gig was filmed using a mobile phone, it seemed to work. Comments were coming through online, which added to the banter between the boys. It’s safe to say these boys get on and the piss taking they do on stage certainly shows how in tune they are with each other. Crowd involvement was encouraged though it really didn’t need to be, as the mix of family, friends and fans appeared to lapping it up and enjoying the performance.

Last song and the real reason why tonight happened, appeared in the shape of the encore You and Me Against the Universe, a belting, beat ridden, catchy number which topped the night off soundly.

Given my quest to work out which magazine to put them in, personally I think they a bit loud for the NME but yet a bit too soft for Kerrang. Make your own decision, they are definitely one to watch.
