Penguin, The Hypes, Leodis: Leeds Cockpit
The-Hypes-bannerWhen a gig is sold out days in advance, you'd be forgiven the assumption that the headlining act would storm the show, and the local support acts would just be filling the time. Tonight, you'd be wrong. Penguin, fresh from winning a place at Reading and Leeds festivals, are more than just an appetizer for the main event and provide an early crowd with a performance of skill and intensity worthy of a much bigger audience.

This night is totally different; tables and chairs are set up for people to enjoy a more relaxed evening, with headline act Leddra Chapman on a UK tour, The Boardwalk transforms itself into a much calmer atmosphere than I have ever seen before.

Counterfeit found Emma and Dan playing a short acoustic set in Penelopes, a venue that is hidden away but has quirky depth to it, a bit like Standard Fare.
