| Scrim – Definitely the Red Wire |
 Black Moon RecordingsWhat a neat energetic little package this. Formed five years ago Scrim are a Sheffield based foursome who pride themselves on good fashioned rock fused with other genre influences. Definitely the Red Wire contains eleven raw infectious anthems ranging from hard hitting beats to tender driven tracks. Their song writing abilities converse everyday observations and experiences that form some pretty tight little ditties. Stand out tracks for me include That’s How it Goes, a loud, catchy number that’ll have heads nodding, feet tapping and one day the masses jumping around contrary to this Open Your Eyes is a heart pounding, riff driven, lyric ridden work of wonder. I have to admit I fell in love with this song. From start to finish this album is a pleasure to listen to. Well produced, well played and well versed. I’d recommend folk to buy it, listen to it and then listen to it some more. On a final note if this is what their debut album has to offer I can’t wait to see them live! Words: Jenny McCambridge |
