Late Night Fiction are a Hull based post-hardcore Rock band who release their latest double A-side single ‘The Only Way To Fly/ To Entertain a Vertical Posture’ on their own Grey Man Records label. Influences from other post-hardcore bands such as Brand New are apparent throughout along with an over-riding resemblance to the early sound of Biffy Clyro. Exhibiting a number of similarities to the Scottish cult rockers, particularly in their ability to mix soft melodic rhythms with thrashing guitar riffs in a way so unpredictable that it refuses to allow you to stop listening to their music.
The Only Way To Fly is a roller-coaster ride that will leave you trembling due to it’s beautifully erratic structure and composition. Whilst the vocals may leave a little to be desired, musically this song is perfect. To Entertain a Vertical Posture marches it’s way into a measured mix of head-spinning bass, considered melodies and an all out attack of a chorus. In this song both the lead vocals and ‘screamo’ backing vocals are spot on and really contribute to making this song a hit. One of the most refreshing things about this band is their ability to sing without feigning an american accent, something which is rarely found in similar bands around at the moment – most notably ‘You Me at Six’.
This single will be available on both CD and digital platforms from the usual outlets from February 28th.
