Hide and Seek Records, Anthologies and a whole host of Leeds based talent have joined together to put their own unique spin on classic Christmas songs, in aid of Leeds charity Simon the Streets.
After the success of Anthologies campaign last year where they raised £750 for Simon on the Streets, they have returned with the help of Hide and Seek records for a second year. The charity, helps people who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless, those who have mental health issues and people dealing with addiction.
Dan O’Dell from Hide and Seek records wants people to remember those who might not be so lucky,” At Christmas it can be easy to forget that not everyone is enjoying themselves, and the winter period is very difficult for those that are homeless and vulnerable, but with the money raised Simon on the Streets can do a very valuable job in making it more bearable.”
Hide and Seek and Anthologies have been kind enough to let us here at Counterfeit exclusively preview Dan Beasley & the S.S.S.S.S version of Cliff Richard’s Mistletoe and Wine, who put a country spin on the classic cheesy tune. Not only does it ignite the Christmas spirit but it gets you in the mood for a hoedown.

Other artists who are doing their bit to spread the Christmas cheer include Ellen and the Escapades, Honour Before Glory and Sam Airey, Backyards, Swimming Lessons, Dancing years, Post War Glamour Girls and more, who Dan said were eager to jump on board “all of the bands understood the importance of Simon on the Streets work, which meant it was very easy to persuade them to contribute and as a result we are fortunate to have a really great group of bands involved”.
