Alex Adams, who has branded his sound a distinctive breed of soulful pop/dance, has been working hard in the run up to the release of his new EP ‘Rubies.’
The Brighton singer has been working with two of the most exciting new names on the house/electro scene, Toyboy and Robin, and has been praised by DJs from BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra for his efforts. Alex co-wrote and featured as a vocalist on the duo’s latest EP, which BBC Radio 1’s Scott Mill’s described as ‘brilliant and faultless’.
Alex’s talent shines from his own new musical venture as well. ‘Rubies’, released on 9th June, is an exciting, fast paced ode to a girl with a sparkle in her eyes. It follows the release of Alex’s debut EP ‘Open Eyes’ in mid 2013, and last summer’s critically acclaimed EP ‘Control’. With the same EDM feel that every big hit of summer 2014 seems to have, comparisons to Alex Clare and Sam Smith are easy to make. Yet there’s something a bit special about Alex, he obviously knows how to craft a good, holiday, club tune.
Co written by Calper, who works with X Factor star Luke White and new talent Debbie Aramide, ‘Rubies’ is certain to be well received. The vocals could be stronger, but a lot of the time the track does the talking with an electronic bounce.
Though one dimensional at first, the song has some real potential for summer remixes, and could be the soundtrack to a lot of holidays this year if picked up by a big DJ.
‘Rubies’ is a track to play whilst you are packing up your bikini, getting on the plane and hitting the beach. And if Alex gets lucky, it will be blasting out onto the strip once you hit the clubs.
